No, people need to get off their ass and push themselves to be healthy, that absolutely is not my responsibility.

@checkoutanytime Yes, be prepared to work hard and pay big taxes for folks who abuse substances and their bodies and need big-time health care.

@checkoutanytime A healthy population is a national security issue. The US was running out of manpower in WWII because so many people were in poor physical health. That is why all Presidents, except for a couple, since the war have pushed for a strong national health care plan.

A sick population is more of a burden than a healthy one supported by national taxes. A sick population will destroy a nation faster than the tax burden to keep them well will.

But, like all social issues in America, resistance to a strong health care program for all is based upon racism and prejudice. Some people get upset at the idea that a dollar of their tax money will help Black people and other minorities. You saw that when Reagan refused to help fight AIDS.
