Government health care = long waiting lists (see: Canada), preferential treatment for the well-connected, stuff like that. What happens when the number of people getting "free" health care exceeds the number paying the taxes for it? It's not the panacea it's made out to be. US health care has its own problems but I'm not sure a government takeover would produce the desired results.
