No such thing as a private life when you have kids

I’ve got one of 8’s friends over for a playdate today. The kid has been telling me all kinds of stuff about her parents and exposing all their secrets. She told me how much her mom weighs, did a reenactment of her parents arguing, and told me “Mommy doesn’t always put pants on, not even when she has a Zoom call with her boss.”

It’s going to be fun when mommy comes back later to pick her up 😆

Note to self to NEVER let my 8 go anywhere without me. She knows tooooo much… 🤡

My cousin teaches first grade. She said she can barely keep a straight face during parent-teacher conferences.

@FlowersInHerHair I’m not sure I’ll be able to when I see her mom later 😅

I once babysat a 5 year old every weekend for a month. He loved to share everything about his day-espeically if he thought it was different or weird or interesting or puzzling. He told me that one night, he was up past his bedtime and when he snuck out of his bedroom he said he saw his Dad feeding his mom like she was a baby and that she was calling him daddy, etc. He also said "my parents are so weird".

I try really hard not to remember this conversation anytime I see that kid's parents. lol

@Scribbles omg. That’s some serious info he was sharing 😭 You wonder how many more people he’s told lol

I was painting a mural in an event that involved kids so I had one 7 yo painting next to me. She showed me a guy there and she said her mom was dating him and that wasn't her father though. I smiled and said they might be good friends but she objected. I shut up and didn't say anything else 😶

Kids watch everything !

This is why when I hear people in bad relationships are staying “ for the kids” I’m always confused they don’t seem to realize the kids know they’re unhappy

@Mrsbetweenfatandfit Kids are not better off when parents' divorce because then there is usually more unhappiness, poverty, drinking, and sometimes even stepdads that are molesting them. Divorced parents have low performing kids in school, more depressed, and they learn that quitting is ok, they quit their college, quit their jobs, and quit their marriages too.

@Carazaa Children will always be happier coming from a “broken home” than living in one
Hahaha and really you can't even tell them not to say anything they are too easily bribed with candy. (I have a 3 year old niece xD)

Just know kids turn out like us. What we do they will do, without any coercing.
