I’ve always been really sensitive to other people’s words

He’s the type of person that says awful things in anger and it eats away at me. I wish I was the kind of person who could just ignore it and move on.

He shouldn't expect you to just eat it.
Just because a person doesn't show it on the outside doesn't mean that cruel words don't hurt.
It is on him and not you, or he would not choose to be cruel, and he'd be changing as not to hurt you.
Moving on is good, but that doesn't mean you cannot acknowledge some behavior as inappropriate.
@Justmeraeagain Yeah you’re right

I'm the same. I don't understand how people just let it slide as if they didn't even hear anything.
I don't believe in "I didn't mean it that way, I was angry" either. People often say what they truly think in anger.
Hey, I don't know if you refer "he" as a partner or someone you're close with but that's not normal. You should confront him about this or talk it out, if you can't ignore and move on, then confront it.
@Ineedtovent00 life doesn’t always work that way and I didn’t ask for your advice.
Sorry to hear that. It does take certain skill to toughen your exterior and not let negative words sink in. Through it all you will be a stronger person for it 💪

Same, except in my case I let myself stoop to his level and started saying hurtful things back, burning any bridges left between us. I don't recommend it.

I lived like that for 14 years, I'll never do it again...
