I Have Weird Dreams
This next dream was not a re-occurring dream but even after many years I still remember it as if it happened just seconds ago.
I was in what looked like a small village. I took the opportunity to look at my appearance and knew I took on the identity as someone else entirely. My very fair skin was extremely tan and my gold hair was black just cut above the shoulders. The only feature that stayed the same was my light blue/grey eyes. I was with a boy who was the same age as me (I'd say 15). We were laughing and playing games when suddenly a group of Egyptian soldiers came to our village to retrieve my friend and bring him to the palace that was located in Lower Egypt. The boy struggled to free himself from the guard's grip but it was no use. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I ran after the chariot that had my friend. I ran as fast as I could through the thick forest (or was it jungle like I do not know) until I reached the end. I saw a barren dessert and a pyramid.
I finally reached the palace and called out to my friend. Through the window, I saw my friend getting dressed in finely rich clothing. I called out to him again but he didn't respond. I made the same attempts to get his attention and this time he looked directly at me, he didn't utter a single word to me. From his facial expression, he looked sad and distant, as if he was trying to forget me. A tall Egyptian man who I presumed was a prince from the presence he emitted approached me, anger seething out of him. He demanded me to tell him why I was here. I explained swiftly that I came to bring my friend back home. The prince arched a brow and shook his head, telling me that my "friend" is a prince and his birthright is here in his palace. When I kept pressing him for more answers he shouted at me to get out or else I'll be killed. I was scared but stood my ground.
I clearly struck a nerve in the prince when he slew an old man who only came to tend to any needs the prince may have wanted, a loyal servant to the prince no doubt. I remember falling to my knees and wept for the man. Again the prince warned me saying that I would never see my friend again.
Some time forward I was in a crowd of people watching eagerly as the returned prince was to be introduced to the public eye. My best friend looked like a completely different person with his adorned gold jewellery and make-up. I felt numb thinking that he was gone to me forever. Our memories together was that but a dream.
The scene ended and I was taken to a dreamlike land. I stood beside an oak tree with red poppies scattered across the field. During this moment I noticed that my appearance changed back to my real appearance. I heard drums off in the distance and spotted Canadian soldiers marching past me. Everything turned to white and that's where my dream ended.
