The thing about being cruel to someone who is cruel to you

Is that there is no point.

They're cruel because someone was to them.

It won't do any good. It will only make them worse.

Honestly unless they're willing to look inside and work on themselves, the only thing to do is shun them. There's no amount of external love that can stop someone being cruel until they recognise their own issues.
