I had a strange dream experience a few nights ago.

I was on a plane with the intent o going to sleep as soon as we took off. So, I took a melatonin, which I rarely do because I already have sleep issues and feel as though this will only deepen my inability to sleep at night if I use it too often.
Anyhow.

I didn’t actually fall into actual sleep for a good 45 minutes, at least. I was miserable. My stomach was killing me, I had no leg room, both sides of me were large men who took up all the space and I was in a bit of a silent panic just wanting to get off the plane.

I got as comfy as one could in a my seat and closed my eyes. Immediately it was lit turning a tv on with no picture, just sound. Like my brain immediately went into a partial dream mode. If I opened my eyes it shut off. If I closed them it started again. I tested it out a few times,. And sure enough! It happened each time. I had no control over the programming, it was just there.

Maybe it was that I was so tried., so stressed and trying to force sleep on myself, I dont know. I would love to experience it again though! And take notes… I can’t remember one thing about my dreams except someone talking about Barney Miller and someone with an axe

I actually do that all the time. I know how to dream while awake, it's quite cool! Sometimes I get my best ideas of what to draw by just closing my eyes and letting my brain take over. You can practice this stuff. Just lay down in the dark, imagine you're on the roof of a train, or poking your head out of a window. You see the track meander left and right, new landscapes, grass, gravel, a body of water, perhaps a bridge, some trees. In the beginning you direct the train, you think of what you should see next if you continue down the road. And then, you just try to let go, the train is still moving, it gets a bit blurrier by it's still moving, and things are still passing by, it starts to get a bit clearer again as your subconscious takes over, now you can look around and see everything.

I don't get very far on the train ride because I get so excited once it happens that my brain kicks up in high gear again lol. But it's good practice and proof of concept.

@nonsensiclesnail Yes it's awesome! But just like real dreams it can be creepy at times, your subconscious will sometimes just decide to show you a creepy face or something and you have to be fine with that in order for it to work. Unless your subconscious is very chill lol
Mine is pretty chill. When my dreams get creepy I start to question things.@MartinTheFirst If I ahve a nightmare its for a damn good reason. I dont do that Willy Nelly.

@nonsensiclesnail Oh mine is a bit of a trickster, it loves trying to surprise me, I never know what to expect 😂

@nonsensiclesnail Psychologically speaking dreams are partly curiosity but mainly your subconsciousness making sense out of past experiences, trying to deal with past trauma, and to take you out of your comfort zone to "make order out of chaos" as Jordon B Peterson phrased it.
@MartinTheFirst For the most part i do believe this is true. But I also like to think that sometimes its for are fun little adventures that reality can never offer.

@nonsensiclesnail Yes definitely! I feel like sometimes your subconscious just feels like you've had a rough time and wants to treat you, lol
