In some dreams I have full sensory experience and it is essentially no different from real life. In other dreams I only have partial sensory experience.
I can feel physical pain and pleasure. I rarely hear anything. I rarely smell anything. I rarely taste anything. But it does occur. Usually I have full vivid vision but in some dreams I can't open my eyes for some reason.
People would always just tell me to get over my dreams. But I realized eventually that I don't dream like most people. My dreams tend to be much more vivid and detailed and I remember them all. It's essentially a double life I lead while asleep.

Yes they are called lucid dreams. I have had some very colorful dreams that later came true.

In the past few years I've been having dreams and drifting in and out of sleep, but returning to the same dream. I've experienced all the senses.

Yes, all senses. I can only remember it when it's a crucial part of the dream though.
Haptic is very strong for me and I had some really pleasant and unpleasant ones. The most memorable was someone poking fingers under and between my ribs.
As for smell, I remember one dream with fire that was so intense that I thought I smelled smoke even a second after I woke up.
Taste, I don't remember anything in particular right now but I'm sure I had dreams where I was eating something and it was too sour, too bitter or something like that.

I definitely see and feel, and hear. I can't smell things or taste things in real life, so it's not surprising that I don't in dreams. BUT just recently, that's getting better...so maybe my dreams will change, too!

I have had sensations while sleeping, that my dream goes along with.
Like if you dream your at the dentist getting a tooth pulled and you wake up with a tooth ache.
Or you are dreaming of peeing the ocean, hopefully your subconscious interrupts and says, "nope! better wake up now, your about to pee the bed."

Similar to yours. Sight and sound, although often I am aware that what I ‘see and hear’ actually are symbols representing what I have seen or heard while awake. In other words, while I experience vivid dreams, it’s more like an interpretation of life.

@DrWatson Does that also mean ‘not pertinent’?

No. But we both remember all that talk about drugs and reality, and "what is reality?"

@DrWatson There’s way more than that. The coffee table is not solid. That one was more persuading to me. If not, why can it bruise my knee? Why doesn’t the table book of art fall through? Why can the cat jump on it?
Is what we’re seeing REAL? Or is it our interpretation of what’s real?
We think animals are smart when they do what we would do. But now we find they have culture. They use tools. They comfort each other when there’s conflict. Some species can extend a pregnancy until it’s a better time for a baby.
I don’t believe those 70s conversations were earth-shifting. But they did raise questions which are still unanswered more than a half century later. How smart are we?
