It's not so much what I needed to hear, although there are many things that would have helped. It's what I didn't need to hear. I didn't need to hear and perceive from my parents how incapable I was, how stupid and inferior I was.
I needed to not be beaten for making simple mistakes and things I wasn't responsible for. It wasn't my job to rescue my parents from the pain of their lives. Although, that's not the way THEY saw it.
