Today I learned that

Canola oil is from the Rapeseed plant that is mass grown in Canada. The plant grows pretty yellow flowers and there are fields and fields of plants though out most of Canada. The plant is a member of the Mustard/cabbage family. CANOLA is acronym for CANadian Oil Low Acid

The crop in New Zealand was always known as Rape....until marketing replaced it with the brand name CANOLA.

New Zealand also renamed the Chinese Gooseberry to Kiwifruit and Passion Fruit to Crinkle Berry.
