What would happen if guns weren't invented?

Like...we still go down everything else, we just don't invent guns, ever...we just stick with bows and swords and whatever because "If it ain't broke don't fix it" or something.

Just a random thought that came to me, so I posted about it, cause that's what this site is for right?

Well, if we hadn't invented guns, we would have invented something else that would accelerate a tiny piece of lead inside some sort of targeting device and propel it out at great speed toward our enemy.

@silmarilion456: I think you mean discovered? Right? Someone, somewhere would have discovered the explosive properties of black powder.

My point earlier was simply that things progress whether we want them to or not. Wishing that something hadn't been invented or imagining what life would be like without something is futility.

Someone right this moment is working on some new kind of weapon that none of us have heard of. Fortunately, he will most likely fail to perfect it, but the next guy or the one after won't. And we will have some new way to kill each other.

Sorry.
