Does it annoy/bother you if you say hello to a person that you know and they say hello but do not make eye contact?

I think I've asked a similar question but I find it to be rude. It happened again today. I spoke to an old classmate, and they above happened. Yet she sits right next to me. But you can't even look at me and say "hello"? Does this mean I'm annoying? (Even though all I say was hey____) , does it mean said person/people do not actually like me, or are they maybe just insensitive and rude?

Well it bothers me with some people and not others. It bothers me if its a friend and a female and they're walking on my side of the street. It doesn't bother me much if its a male and they have their girlfriend with them, I don't know a person that well and if they're walking on the other side of the street.

I'm looking at the person I'm speaking to. I thought that's what civilized people did. I'm going to start being one of those other people and see how it goes.

@iamnikki: there could be several reasons why she behaves that way. It doesn't have to be all for negative or conceited reasons does it? If you were telling this story about a guy acting like that I would think he had a crush on you

No, she talks to others. I'M a shy person but I still make eye contact. Because its rude not to . Makes a person look conceited, to me it gives off an "I'm better than you" vibe.

@iamnikki: Me too but there was a time I didn't dare to look people.
You know, perhaps I'm wrong but I see how people are so involve in their own matters and absent-minded.
Then, there are people who show themselves very friendly in sn environment or a day and they are totally different in another.
I used to avoid them when the behaviour is repeated.

@twistermind: I ignore the people at work totally, becasue I don't need them for anything at all. I work independently. But school is different you know? I might need a classmate for something. We may end up working together upon graduation ...etc.
