Adobe is amazing stuff

My apartment complex is all adobe, built in the 50’s here in New Mexico.

The outside temp is 86 F, 30 C. Coupled with low humidity, this is entirely comfortable. I don’t even have a fan going.

Back in Pennsylvania, with a temp of 86 and normal humidity, I found it unbearable.

Like I said, adobe.

I love it. I have been considering moving to NM. It's so much more affordable than Arizona.
@LeGrotesque It is, but there are reasons. Where in NM you live can make a big difference.

Yep, its thermal mass properties provide low thermal conductivity and if you happen to live in a more humid and/or rainy weather, a coat of good ole stucco will keep it in good shape.

I lived in south central CA as a kid and we had an adobe house that had an exterior coat of stucco on it.

The walls were about 10" thick, and it stayed comfortable until 100 degree temps started in August.
