Sometimes you just have to be your own hero.
This means taking responsibility for your own well-being, growth, and happiness. Especially when others can't or won't... requiring self-belief, resilience, setting boundaries, self-care, and courage to face challenges and heal your own heart. I've done it plenty of times. It works. And you don't have to have all the answers in order for it to work.
Even if you don't recognize or feel your inner strength, you can still make a choice to navigate life's difficulties, understanding that you're capable of saving yourself, rather than waiting for someone else to rescue you. It is quite freeing. Just give yourself permission and work at your own pace. No rush. Even if you do one simple thing a day that is still an accomplishment and you should be proud of it. Always.
This is not about forcing anything. It's not about willpower. We don't need to make it more complicated than it is. We just decide to do something and then do it, whether it comes out right or wrong, it doesn't matter. Whatever makes you happy. It doesn't have to be perfect. It never did.
If you're a procrastinator, then be a good procrastinator, 😆 but don't beat yourself up. You'll do it when you're good and ready. No need to force it. It will come on its own. It's not about timing. It's about honoring yourself and loving yourself enough to be gentle with yourself and not push yourself where you know you shouldn't be going. When you sabotage your own efforts, how could you think you could feel good? How could anything feel good when you do that? The body's trying to tell us to love ourselves, not push ourselves. Not when we're not ready. When it comes more natural, it just feels like a breath of fresh air, so fresh and pure.
You don't have to take charge of anything. It comes more like a gentle rain you can bask in when you're good and ready. No one telling you how to do it or when to do it. It just is. You know your own truths, so don't go against them. Don't fight them. Just let them be and come naturally. Everything will happen as it's supposed to happen, so no you sweating it. Just let it be. Just like breathing. We don't command that. It just is, so let it be. Whatever you feel like doing, and if you don't then don't go against your own wishes. This is when all the anxiety and depression comes in, from forcing ourselves.
Keep your healthy boundaries and don't say yes, when you mean no. You're betraying your own self when you do that. It's not healthy and then we wonder why it feels bad when we force ourselves.
Some people might get jealous of that, when they notice the change, but oh well. It's not about them is it? It's about you and your needs. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for wanting to better your life and feel healthy and alive again. Until we start taking priority and pride in ourselves, everything will feel messed up. I don't know why we think we can get by with dishonoring ourselves.
If you take it slow and gentle with yourself, you won't have to worry about if you have the power to overcome obstacles and handle what comes your way. It will just come naturally. I know that from experience. The Bible says be anxious for nothing. Nothing. When I keep that in mind, nothing can ruffle my feathers, I don't care what it is. 🤭
The key is to prioritize yourself physically and emotionally. Don't give in when you don't want to! That's self betrayal and self-denial. If you keep doing that then you're going to begin to loathe yourself because you weren't true to yourself and you know that. So don't even entertain that.
You already have the tools to do what you need to do. You're already equipped! You've just not honored your own boundaries, that's all. Now you can do that. When you know better, you do better. There's no set rules. We don't need a bunch of rules in loving ourselves.
When you decide to love and take care of yourself, then your poor body and emotions can start to heal and you'll feel so much better. There's nothing wrong with self-care. It's a necessity. Then you can move forward but if you delay all this, you may just stay stuck. So make yourself a priority. You really deserve it. Your body is trying to tell you that.
Loving yourself builds confidence and proves to yourself what you're capable of. It allows you to become a stronger, more capable person for yourself. When you do this there's no way you can come out wrong. This is the way you were meant to live. Not under constant pressure and doing things you don't want to do. The way you take care of yourself says something about what you think about yourself. If you need help in the self-esteem department, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there that really help. Of course, prayer always works. That's my first go to.
God wants to help you heal. But it can't be all him. He's got big plans for you, whether you realize it or not. Plans to help you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
