If I were in that situation, I would have already gotten the pet to someone I could trust...and then bash my abuser's brains in as he slept! Really in that situation, its all about your own survival. I would have called the police and involved them.
@TexChik I thought that was the answer too, but they said it sounded to them like I was the problem, asked me if there was anywhere I could go, told us to stay in separate rooms, and said they didn't see any marks or bruises even though they were right there
