Leave your pets behind?

If you had to leave your home because of violence and you had no money, what would you do about your pets?

I would contact local shelters and explore finding maybe fostering until I could get them back. Even if I couldn’t manage getting them back soon enough or even at all, I would be comforted knowing they were okay.
