What do you make of this?

Before starting this story I don't like crocs, I don't wear crocs, I don't want my child to wear crocs my partner has agreed. I had to wear croc like shoes for work and they further reinforced why I don't like crocs from a safety point of view.

I went to a hospital appointment and there was a young trainee. She had such a kind and warm way about her. When she stood up she had on crocs.
They were pink but had pendants on them, I looked at them and they were really cute, in fact one of them was a cupcake.
I actually thought "aww that's cute!" So I complimented her.

My mum decided to join the conversation and went on about liking crocs but actually I don't.

She went as far as saying that I told her they were idiot shoes.

So I spoke up and said no you misquoted I referred to the film Idiocracy

The "idiot shoes" in the movie Idiocracy are Crocs, chosen by the costume designer because they were a cheap, new startup brand that looked futuristic but foolish, and she believed they would never become popular. The filmmakers used them to represent the dumbed-down future society, only to be ironically proven wrong when Crocs became a widespread fashion success after the movie's release.

Reason for choice: The costume department had a limited budget and wanted a shoe that looked futuristic but stupid.

Unlikely to succeed: They chose Crocs because it was a small startup, and the designer specifically believed the shoes were "horrible" and "never going to become popular," according to IMDb.

Ironic twist: By the time the movie was released, Crocs had become a massive hit, making the "prediction" in the film feel eerily accurate to many viewers.

The student was insulted but she then pointed out that she had a friend who used to say she hated crocs but now has more and a varied amount of them in comparison to her.

I also went on to say I used to work in healthcare and despite the supposed comfort they present I actually found them uncomfortable and impractical especially when going up and down stairs.
