what do you do if you're now in your 40s and have no support system

i don't want any sympathy but this is me....i have psychological problems, which ive had all my adult life...i lost touch with the friends of my youth, and now my only support mechanism are my elderly mum and dad - who live far away.

i live by myself in a small flat, which i've lived in for 20 years now......i feel alienated from society, as anyone would. what can i do?
