if someone behaves 'familiar' with you when you don't know them

i've had this sometimes in life online and in real life, someone who behaves in a familiar way with me when i don't know them and they do not know me, i find this really irritating and annoying....how should you react to a situation like that?

It's considered suspicious in my culture, like a sign someone wants to induce a feeling of safety in you and scam you. I think it's wise to be wary and watch them closely before you figure out who they are and what they want.
I get greeted in the woods in an informal way by strangers and it's weird but they look harmless, so I don't think too much about it.

It's pretty normal online though. People don't have that many restraints because there's no immediate danger in interactions.
