Do you get your water heater serviced & flushed every year?

It helps maintain your unit since it helps flush out any sediments & build-up.

I’ve seen videos that claim flushing really does nothing but waste your money.

@marsbar He was a plumber, albeit a rather cranky one. But he had a point that water heaters have too many different baffles in the innards that block any effective flushing attempts. A better bet would be to get whole home water filtration to stop sediments from ever reaching your water heater.

@stratosranger If it wasn’t for the expense, that would be the best option.
@marsbar I hear ya. My municipal water is blech. I’ll see what the tax return brings and maybe spring for that expense. The end result over time will be appliances that last longer, cleaner water and an increase in my home’s value. I fortunately do have an RO system under the kitchen sink for drinking water and that works great.

@stratosranger I have one under the sink as well.

My drinking water, even without my RO system under the sink, still tastes decent.

@marsbar We have very hard water and there is a lot of lime build up. However, you can just empty your water tank yourslef, not flushed but better than nothing. You can let if fill and keep on emptying it.

@JimboSaturn It’s tankless.
