Can antidepressants cause paranoia?

Someone I know just started taking them and suddenly thinks they are being watched and everyone is out to get them 😟

Yeah it sounds like the antidepressant isn’t right for them and they’re having some sort of psychotic episode or bad reaction 😕

@SW-User Im really worried. I wish they hadn't taken them in the first place.

@Nebula It’s common for someone to have a not so good reaction to an antidepressant, especially if it’s the first one they’ve tried. I was lucky in that the first one i tried worked great for me, but the second one sent me suicidal.

I would encourage them to go to the Dr. ASAP and stop taking the meds.

@SW-User I want her to seek outside help because I dont think she needs them to begin with. I know Im not a doctor but a second opinion doesnt hurt, or trying non-medicinal options first, like therapy.

@Nebula Well yeah, definitely. Seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist is definitely a good idea. Some people can manage their anxiety or depression really well without medication, others can’t.

@SW-User yeah, I've have pretty bad anxiety all my life and refuse to take anything. I just found other ways of coping that are healthy
