What would make you quit a job without notice?

This was in a kitchen at a sit down restaurant. First I was told I could only have a smoke break every 3 hours (I previously did it whenever I wasn't busy and it was never an issue). Then we went two weeks without oven mitts. Every other day we would ask, and the response was "they'll be here soon just use towels". The towels were paper thin and we all got burned. Eventually I just offered to drive to Walmart and buy some. The response from management? "No, we have to order them off a special catalog!" to which I responded by saying that's the most ridiculous shit I had ever heard in my entire life, and that I quit. I got so pissed I threw my apron on the floor and just punched out and left and never came back.
