When people unnecessarily invade my personal space. Case in point:
I was at a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago and there was hardly anybody in the waiting room. Very slow day. The waiting room area is very large (probably seats 15-20 people) for this doctor's office and there was only me and two other people there and the three of us were pretty spread out from each other, each of us surrounded by a bunch of empty seats in between. So I'm just on my phone waiting to be called on when a man walks in with a crying toddler. He checks in with the woman in the front window and then proceeds to take a seat right next to me with his crying toddler. I immediately looked up from my phone and looked at all the empty seats all around the waiting room and just kind of looked at him like, Really? All this empty space and you have to sit elbow to elbow with me? Are you kidding me?
Thankfully I got called in very quickly after that, but this is something that always grinds my gears no matter where I am. I understand if someone has to sit next to me because the area is crowded and not a whole lot of seats to choose from, but if there is ample space available and someone decides to rub elbows with me it feels like a violation of my personal space. It's sort of the equivalent of having somebody standing too close to you than you would like when you are in a non-crowded area. I can't stand that, especially when it is completely unnecessary.
