Why are illegal immigrants all gathered up and thrown into camps where they are treated like animals?

Why not just take them to the appropriate location where they can actually become citizens?

Appropriate locations?

Let’s pretend we built Trump Hotels all along the border. At some point they would fill.

There are legitimate ways for becoming a US citizen. Planting yourself on the border of a country and seeking asylum is not one of the better ideas.

@SW-User Do you know how often illegal immigrants find work, become a living working person in a country, hiding as they don't have documentation? While providing for children? The issue is documentation and process, easy said when you have a healthy country and situation.
@SW-User There are ports of entry along the border where they could simply be taken to sign up for citizenship instead of just being tossed into those camps is what she is saying.

@latinbutterfly Then why didn't they go there and immigrate properly to begin with?
@MethDozer Because it's expensive, take it from someone who's family immigrated to the United States years ago. That being said, maybe instead of wasting money on pointless crap, the government should lend a helping hand to those who just want better lives. Of course, that is asking way too much.

@latinbutterfly I can totally agree with this. Nobody is arguing against smarter immigration.

Sadly, the GOP is using it to spark nationalism and the democrats are quite literally too inbred to do something good about it.

Foreign-born workers have always boosted this country and its economy. Managing immigration and allowing people from all parts of the world (not just the white parts) is good.... but we can't just open the gates anymore. The black eye that is the world trade center shows that we have to be diligent.

I don't understand why people are choosing to pile up in a country with a rapist, mindless, dictator-loving leader at its helm. Now's not a good time folks. Whoever is paying you/convincing you to come now is lying.

There is no real conceivable way they can emigrate here in any other fashion, certainly they have little to lose from an attempt.

To put it in perspective, we've been waiting for a sibling visa for 15 years. And this requires things like promising to support them and demonstrating you can. Try to imagine the process and waiting list for those without a sponsor.
