What's the most expensive car repair you've ever needed?

I had my first car for 4 years, until it munched a couple valves for lunch. Due to the major damage that resulted (broken piston), I ended up needing a new engine for $4,000. Being that the car was 13 years old, there was no way I was putting the money into that.

I've owned only three cars in my entire life. I took very good care of them and drove them till they died. My last one was 23-years-old.

@hunkalove Only new car we had was an 85 Bonneville. Chevy 305 V-8. Ordered it so it came the way I wanted it. Lasted 340,000 miles till Bambi #2 totalled it. Grrrr.... Was in need of a transmission, however. LOL. Last car I enjoyed working on. Even the heater core was accessible! 😮😂 I had no idea heater cores could be accessed! That one was incredibly easy. Never before, and never since.

@ImpeccablyImperfect LOL. I had one hit me once. 68 Dart, New Year's Eve, snowy night, and it ran into the driver's side rear quarter panel. :P

@billybcgn25 Mine jumped right in front, he hit dead square in the middle of the grill.
So weird, it was as if he popped straight up from the road!
Me and my mom went looking for him, but he was gone, leaving a trail behind him into the woods
I felt bad. 😢

@ImpeccablyImperfect :'( I've had one do that. Totalled the previous pickup. Now have one like this (which has the rebuilt engine in it).
