My mother in law had Alzheimer’s and was too difficult to keep at home at the end. For her safety and the families peace of mind she needed 24/7 care which nobody could provide at the time.
@Keepitsimple my step mom just died from it. My dad refused to put her in one and it ended up making his health suffer. It is his decision. But I know that I wouldn't be able to quit work and take care of him. So it is an option.

It was a hard decision but she hated men and would freak out, she wouldn’t stay seated and would walk around the house and fell down stairs and wanted somebody by her at all times and really unless it was her kids nobody could communicate (If you can call it that) because she spoke Italian and none of the grandkids spoke it. It was a mess and everybody worked. Once she had a steady routine and place to be everybody’s life including hers improved. @approachingmyexpirationdate
