If you live in your parents' basement until they die...

...and you are, say, 50 when they do. What are you meant to do? Not many places would hire a 50 year old with no experience.

I was just curious because my friends brother is 24 and he's not planning on moving out anytime soon. What's gonna happen to people like him later on?

He will most likely inherit the property and it's responsibilities. In that instance he can either keep the house and make it his own, or sell it to another family and collect the payment on the house as his own.

You should ask your brother what he wants to do with the place. Chances are he's tired of it and wants to sell it and get a place of his own, but probably can't afford it. Keep nudging him though.

@GohantheThird I can't really ask him because it will sound rude. And my friend doesn't let me go near the basement because her brother gets angry if you disturb him.
@Serena it would be rude even if he is your brother. Let the guy figure himself out. Chances are he has a personal issue he's dealing with.
