Should I go?

There’s an older woman who started working at my job recently. She appears to be in her early to mid 50s. She is very sweet and we have great conversations when we work together. She suggested we go out for drinks one day after work. I feel like this would be awkward just because she is 30 plus years older than me. There’s no romantic twist or anything, she’s just a nice woman. I’m a little hesitant because of the age gap.

If it's definitely non-romantic and you are sure that's not for you - then I would say, go, I am wondering if she is perhaps the motherly type, feels she wants to make sure you are ok, perhaps you remind her of herself when she was your age.

@Adaydreambeliever she told me we have very similar life experiences. Our birthdays are even in the same week and we found out today we live on the same street. She is retired in a field I want to go into so we talk about that a lot.

@KaciAlex ahh so it sounds to me like she wants to help you, with advice and info.. to perhaps help you avoid the pitfalls and traps in your field and how to get ahead.. sounds like she could be useful and wants to help.

Re the age.. people are all just people... old young rich poor... we all have a beating heart and a brain... so I'd say, give her a chance...

@Adaydreambeliever yes, you’re absolutely right. Thank you for helping me see it in a different perspective. 😌
