If you had to choose between saving your child or 5 other strangers (The same age as your child), who would you save?

I feel like common sense would say most of everyone is going to choose their own child to save ?

@Stark Yeah, I thought the same. But I'd choose the 5 strangers, so I wanted to get a bit of a ratio of how many would save their child over the 5 strangers.
@SW-User that sucks, I would hate for my parents to choose complete strangers over me. It doesn’t sound like the actions of a good parent.

@Stark I don't think it would be the actions of a good parent either, but I do think it would sound like the actions of a good human being. If one of your children were of the 5 in danger, I would sacrifice my child to save your child, as well as 4 other children for mothers like you. And while you live happy to have your own child, I would suffer for having lost mine.

Is that not a sign of a selfless human being? :(
@SW-User I think as a parent you’re expected to sacrifice for your children and keep them safe in the best way you can and if you don’t feel that is important as a parent then you probably shouldn’t be a parent😅. I think it’s selfish to put others before your children especially if they’re strangers, but some people may view it the opposite way all of that is really opinion based. When put in a situation like that I don’t think people are contemplating what would be the less selfish act I think they’re just focused on their child and keeping them safe, I think it’s just a natural instinct for most.

@Stark Definitely, I would think saving your child would be natural instinct! :) But I believe I'd want to go against that instinct because I believe it wouldn't be good for me to follow through.

But I found it really interesting when you said that you believed it to be selfish to put other strangers before your children. How do you see that to be selfish? Btw, I hope this doesn't sound like a debate in any way. I'm genuinely interested in listening and understanding other people's perspectives, as well as sharing my own :)
