Would you buy an elder person a bed if they did not have one?

And you could afford one? I was down at the local park and this older man started talking to me. He was very nice, very drunk but nice. He told me he did not have a bed. He was sleeping in a chair with a foam mattress. It broke my heart. I am thinking about buying him a bed. What would you do?

Even if true, why would you sleep in a chair? If you had a foam mattress? A sofa maybe, but chair is just making it uncomfortable, many people sleep on foam mattress as a matter (or mattress) of course.
And also, what's it with drunk people? Is that supposed to make people more honest and approachable? And communicate that they don't have money for basic necessities?

@Faust76 HE never said it like that. I was the one that brought up the bed. I said that all one needs is a bed to sleep in and food to eat. That is when he mentioned that he did not even need a bed and said he slept in a chair with a foam mattress. I think he had to live like that because he don't have the money for a bed. Anyway I am going to get him a bed.
