@Fernie my first thought was that Indiana Republican that failed in a Senate run in 2012, I must admit, the clown that insisted when raped the womans body shut down and prevented pregnancy, so if she got pregnant it was her choice

@firefall Yeah I was pondering whether to point out people may be laughing now, but Todd Akin was the previous prominent supporter of that thoughtprocess. Though he apologized profusedly at the time (but it still most likely cost him his Senate seat), in his book he later recanted that apology and supported what he said. Though to be fair, what he said was one offensive litany, including that he supported "some punishment" on the rapist, making it dismissive.

I think that the idea that women only get pregnant if they want to is actually somewhat more widespread, and (without intending to open a can of worms) with birth control it's an easy idea to get.
