My family would adapt. We are heavily involved in Boyscouting.

@ShadowedWhispers We didn't get electricity on the farm where I was born until a few months before my birth. Still had a lot of hand tools to use and few electrical items...I'd miss the refrigerator most and the air conditioner second of all...we did have a cold creek to splash in when it got really hot and the farm house had longer windows that were placed to pull a breeze through the house, modern homes don't seem to have those as they are built to conserve energy. It's also a few degrees cooler out in the rural areas especially if there's a good body of water nearby.
@cherokeepatti Salt (to preserve meat) would suddenly become a very big deal with no access to refrigeration. Some people would starve, I'm sure.

@ShadowedWhispers It's the milk and fresh veggies I'd want to keep a while especially in hot weather. I know people used to put silver coins in a jug of milk to help it last longer, the silver helped to kill germs. Meat can be preserved in salt, salt water or dried like jerky...yeah if so many people are too lazy to cook these days they'd probably starve before they'd garden or raise animals or fish.
