Do you think animal lives are equal in value to human lives?

Well...I eat certain animals, and when my cat had inoperable feline cancer I had her put to sleep. I would not do those things with a human child, even if I legally could. So while I consider animal lives valuable and worthy of respect, I admit I see a difference.
