You are walking through a lonely road at evening...

[...] You don't really know where you going to, or even what awaits you in the end, but you know you need to get there. Suddenly, you find a bifurcation in the road. Near to it, you also find a bus stop standing there, in the middle of the nowhere. The path divides into three roads, each one leading in a different direction.

The first one leads to a small creek full of piranhas. Somehow, you know that the piranhas won't kill you, but you're still gonna feel an extreme pain. As far as your eyes can see, the road continues through a long and safe way. But you know that the rest of this road leads to an unsafe and difficult path.

The second one leads to a large chasm full of dangerous snakes. Neither the snakes nor their poison will kill you, but you gonna feel an extreme pain. However, near at the end of the chasm there's a small, but safe path. You know that this path will lead you through a more safe and easy road.

The third road leads you into a dense and dark forest. You don't know where this road will lead you, or if the path will be safe or dangerous to you pass through. However, you know that if enter in these woods, you will be lost for sure.

As a last option, you decide to check on the bus schedule. The next bus will only arrive tomorrow morning. You know that the bus will protect you from the dangers of the road. Besides, the bus will leave you into a safe path. But, to get on the bus, you will need to wait all the night in this stop. You know that if you wait here, you will pass through an extreme cold night, but you also know that you won't be killed by the cold.

All these roads leads you into your objective. All these options are worth it.

Which one would you choose, and why??
I think I would take the bus. I don't mind the cold that much and I will soon be numb.

Number one, I'm not that adventurous.

Number two I can't stand snaked.

Number three, too much like real life. I want safety even if it becomes uncomfortable.
@Arthur14 yes, we have to accept pain sometimes to get to a better place. But we rarely get to choose our pain.

@Mondayschild yes. Most of people seems to give more attention in the near happiness than the latter happiness, but to be honest, it's pretty relative. In each of the paths you will find sorrow and pain, but you will also find happiness and peace. It's up each person to know what they value more. Near peace/last danger or near danger/last peace. And the road continues until its end
@Arthur14 I like this way of thinking.
