At the end of my drinking, (I no longer drink), I used to chug a glass of water in between drinks if I felt too buzzed; alcohol severely dehydrates you, and that's why you feel so sick.

I didn’t quit a lot of my “stupid” stuff until I joined the Navy in 1979 when I was 20.
Of course I still drank in the Navy and even received some Non-Judicial punishment from my Commanding Officer for some drinking behavior but I learned to behave much better!

I still can drink a 1.75 bottle and a case of beer in a night and still function

I can't either. Used to drink half a bottle of vodka a day and now I can't even finish a beer without getting sick.
