have you ever been awake while dreaming?

I swear this just happened to me yesterday

I dreamed that I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and everything felt so real.

like I was in my room, but the people telling me were standing right over me- close enough I could feel their breath

soon as I rolled over, they were gone- and I was just left in a dark room crying, wondering what comes next?

it was really scary- not just the dream itself, but the feeling of being awake for it

I've fixed my dwelling for the night
Lights in pairs come passing by
Where I hide
I need some time now on my own
Leave my loneliness alone
To lick my wounds
Night has found me just in time
To help me close my eyes
One more time
Living a boy's adventure tale
In so many ways
Living a boy's adventure tale
For so many days
I'm living a boy's adventure tale
Can't escape, if I wanted to
Living a boy's adventure tale
I may be dreaming but I feel awake
I've been lost in so many places
Seeked love in so many faces
A change of weather
The rain pours down
My head in hands
Pressed to the ground
And where am I supposed to go now
Living a boy's adventure tale
In so many ways
Living a boy's adventure tale (aah)
Living a boy's adventure tale
A voice I hear
Living a boy's adventure tale
Singing a lullaby for me
Living a boy's adventure tale
Because of you
Living a boy's adventure
Oh you know it's true
Living a boy's adventure tale
In so many ways (aah)
For so many days
I love you. I love you
So many ways

Could you have been half asleep? So you start dreaming while still being a bit awake.

Or, sometimes I've had daydreams that I got so carried away with that I feel whatever emotion I'd be feeling if it really happened and when I "wake up" from the daydream it's a bit of a shock that none of that really happened. Maybe that's what happened to you.

Lucid Dreaming or Sleep paralysis is more common than people think. When part of your brain is conscious and another part is still sleeping. It can happen from lack of sleep or lack of good sleep. Some people see someone in their room. Some are awake but can't move. Some have detailed realistic dreams like you had.

I get varying types of so called vivid dreaming - where you know you are dreaming and can control the dream to some extent. They are often extraordinarily erotic and I can feel everything during them. I also get hallucinatory sleep paralysis with vivid auditory hallucinations.

It sounds to me that you have experienced the loss of a loved one, you know the score you've seen the dark side of life and know full well it could happen to you or anyone.

It's your sub-conscious mine's the same it plays tricks.

I once had a dream that Freddie Kruger was in my room and I couldn't move or get up. It was really freaky.

I’ve had a waking dream before, it felt incredibly real and it did spook me.

I have had lucid dreams.

It felt so real that I woke when I got punched by the hulk.
