is anyone else daunted by the world we're living in now

[c=005E2F]i feel like that often, afraid, daunted of the world that surrounds me now....i'm not a fan of modern society at all, there's a lot of things i'm at odds with now....and the people in society now cause me to lose my courage to do what i need to do at times.[/c]

The world is utterly insane and somehow we are expected to suffer for it in it's meaninglessness.

I think that there are a few good people out there but getting their company is competitive and they can always change over time. Some really are smart, kind and neurodivergent but at the end of the day they are human too with their own needs and struggles. Also we have to be doing well ourselves for successful connection with them.

Yes!! My entire life I have been an extroverted outgoing people person. Somehow though, having Covid and getting 4 vaccines totally changed me. Now I’m extremely introverted and avoid people as much as possible. When I’m off work, I am my very happiest just laying in bed watching Netflix and scrolling through social media rather than being out in this scary world of hate, racism, crime, etc.

Modern society is no better or worse than previous society. As long as there a people the same old issues bubble away.

You can either rack your brain with anxiety about things you cannot possibly influence, or you can use your wits to find a place in it all that you feel acceptable. The choice is yours.

@Castenmas 'Rack my brain' or else 'Use my wits'? Same difference - They are both just thinking; which is hard not to do, although it can be futile and even completely irrational.

I feel the same. There isn't a place for me in society now. My elderly parents, who both died recently, just dodged a bullet, because they were even more out of step... and I'm afraid things in this country are only going to get worse.

i have ways of coping with these fears. my strategy could be helpful to others but may not be.

@pdxlinux Hey, nice to see another friend of the penguin here; knows the name of Alan Watts too! What is the strategy you use, for dealing with the frustrations of 'the modern world'? (My knowledge of Linux - and of Watts - is low level. I use Mint and very occasionally the command line :) ).

@Really thanks for reading. the one thing that i do lately that probably has the biggest effect on me is watching interviews of near death experiences. they come back with messages for us. i feel comforted by them. we are unable to see beyond the veil, and it is not misfortune that makes us this way, but rather the path we chose prior to birth. i'm not asking you to take my word for it. i'm explaining and sharing how i cope with my fears of the future, failures, losses and sadness.
