Aerospace engineer, then a pilot.
For military and space projects.
Realized I'd rather ride them than build them, and pursued a career as a commercial pilot for an airline.
A military flying career was also an interest.
Attended flight academy, then 9/11 happened.
Jobs weren't there. So I entered a different industry.
With time and maturity, I eventually realized the precarious nature of a flying career. I talked to a lot of pilots, ex-pilots, colleagues and business owners.
The takeaway was that Aviation as an industry, demanded unquestioning allegiance, & sacrifice; but gave nothing back to its people---and felt it owed them nothing. It simply kept asking for more.
In short -- I dodged a silver bullet.

To be an obedient cog in the machine. That's why I struggle with society and the concept of work now. I refuse to be what I was trained to be but I'm not really prepared to be something better.

@CrazyMusicLover start a small business with some others....that might be a ticket out...and in

@Ohplease47 I'm self-employed but the government fuck self-employed people up still more and more. They deliberately want to wipe off as many as possible. There's no longer a point in planning to run something bigger in this country. Actually big companies are leaving due to new taxes and new laws and due to completely destabilized economic ground. Some small businesses closed recently even after 20 years. I'm pretty new to this but I'm thinking of starting to send CV, hopefully getting a job and stopping self-employed activity, at least temporarily. If I had many regular clients and more stable income, I would close it here and open in some other country but I can't afford it yet.

@CrazyMusicLover cosra rica is still a desirable place but I am stranded here alone completely and half paranoid and getting too old to plan anything real anymore. You are still young enough to get out and survive...go for it
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
I was just surviving. Then got to adulthood and kept on having to do the same.
Now that things have evened out a bit, I have absolutely no idea what to do anymore.

I had a multitude of imterests, art, mudic, science. It was only in my last year of high school when medicine became top if the list.

I probably spent most of my time preparing to be an athlete.
Ohplease47 · F
@exexec did your dreams come real? Did you show your power in other ways?
exexec · 70-79, C
@Ohplease47 I became a decent high school and college athlete and a few dreams came true. Brain power eventually defeated muscle power as I matured.
