@elafina I have a novel that I polished up and declared finished some years ago now. I actually had two offers from small publishers to publish it. The first publisher just sort of ghosted me and never responded after making the offer. The second told me to go over their contract and make any suggestions for changes I'd like to see. As soon as I did, though, they withdrew the offer. I had decided to just go ahead and self publish. I laid out the text, and I worked on the cover, but the wife involved herself in the project, meaning that she wanted it to be all about her, even though her suggestions (demands, really) were completely inappropriate, so I just gave up. I imagine I'll get back to it some day.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to carve out either the time or the energy to write for a long time, so I don't have anything recent.

@DunningKruger I wish that you'll make it happen. Rejection is normal in these things, I'd say continue and send it to a few more publishers. And yes, plan some space for something new

@elafina Over the years, I have submitted this book to well over 100 agents and publishers. Other than the offers I got, only one ever asked to see the full manuscript.

@DunningKruger I have the utmost respect for anybody who can push through and complete the writing of a book, I have loads of ideas but apart from writing the odd fragment from time to time am not disciplined enough to do anything of significance.
