Your Experience With Nuns?

Some of my cousins went to Catholic school and heard nothing but horror stories of the nuns whipping the kids and severe discipline for the smallest things. But they are even harsher on mentally challenged kids, those kids get the worst beatings in many cases. Had any experience with nuns?

Contrary to my experience. Multi generational with Catholic schools. Parents, myself, spouse, children , brothers, sisters ... etc. All attended Catholic schools. No complaints, no bad experiences with nuns.

I think nuns should be legal to hunt. They are self-hating, still-in-the-closet lesbians who shouldn’t be allowed access to children.

@redredred never thought of you as rational tho! Most people get angry when there’s a tiny bit of truth in a statement. I’m not angry but there is a tiny bit of truth in what you say. Very tiny. That’s the difference between an extremist and rational thinkers. You’re an extremist!

@Handfull1 never thought your opinion about anything mattered.

@redredred of course not!! I often wonder if you’re as nasty in person or all show on here! Someone sure did something bad to you as a child! 🤗🤗

12 years of catholic school lots of nun experiences. no real physical abuse, got my ear pulled a few times. more mental abuse really. put downs, attempted humiliation, that sort of thing.

@GerOttman Ear pulling is physical abuse and humiliation.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@graphite yeah.. kind of a 2'fer
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@GerOttman unfortunately that’s just the Catholic mentality! Don’t forget guilt!!

Most of my nuns were nice. One was the ruler on the hand type.

Never saw that treatment in 8 years of grade school

Went to Catholic school in the 60s and the nuns were horrible - humiliating and hitting kids, stuff that would get them arrested today. But I don't think they're like that anymore. I hope not.
You mean like “ Sister Mary, Slap Happy”? Yeah I suffered their wrath.
I have…none. Ha. Haha! Okay. I’ll leave. Sorry about that. 😬

I have no experience but I admit they still creep me out a bit. I can't stop seeing them as one of the symbols of a religious cult where a lot of ugly things were going on throughout centuries. I can see reasons why women decided to become a nun in past but in today's society it's strange to me. Something old and outmoded.

Nope. I am a protestant. My mother had me baptised as a baby in the Roman Catholic church, but she left the church so early on I have zero memories of attending their services. We were Pentecostal for awhile, then non-denominational, then Baptist.
Only experience I have with nuns is walking past them & seeing them on t.v.
Sister Act & whatnot. Mother Theresa.

All of my family on my mom's side are Catholics besides her older sister & my mother. Two of my cousins found out they have Sephardic jewish ancestry & converted to Judaism.
