When is it ok to ghost someone you love if something comes up?

Is it too much to expect at least a quick text to say they have something else they must attend to ? I dont demand to be top priority but give me the courtesy of a quick heads up so I dont wait all evening for nothing then wake up in the
middle of the night feeling hurt and feeling pathetic for feeling hurt.

I think it depends on what comes up- common courtesy would be to let you know if you two have made plans. But there are exceptions where we need to step back from ourselves and be reasonable in expectation.
