What gets a person furthest in this world: money, brains or looks?

Faust76 · 46-50, M Best Comment
I would say that studies support looks. But your question leaves a lot to interpretation. A person who inherits a lot of money is already far, far ahead in the world. But when's the last time you heard of a lottery winner getting... anywhere, beyond holiday resorts and possible early grave? People on the streets and the slums have the same brains as everybody else, and you could say they even have to use them more, but despite the stereotypical story, is there actually anybody who "got far" from the slums? Looks works though; there's an endless cavalcade of movie stars, supermodels and celebrities whose only gift seems to be that they meet (and, admittedly, sometimes define) the current standards of beauty.
Very thought through answer. Thank you. @Faust76:

Luck.
Educate yourself to the highest degree all you want.
Even educated folk are made unemployed from time to time.
Money comes and goes. And the more you have of it, the harder it is to hang on to. Since everybody else then wants a slice of it.
Brains ? Well, if your brain says one thing but a greater number say the opposite,what good does it do you ?
Looks ? Well, looks might give you opportunities but they're not all what you hope for.
But luck......If you're lucky, that gives you an advantage the rest of us can only hope for.
@Picklebobble2: I think Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and such like would not call their success luck. Or would at least say that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I would agree with you on the models part.

How do you account for Gates's success then ?
If there was no internet, he'd be creating software packages for business to business only.
Zuckerberg....Well, there's a guy who had a great idea and the foolishly let it go without thinking of the pay per view/ rental opportunities !! Hence all the garbage advertising.
I certainly agree that luck is a huge factor in life chances. But that's a variable (like looks) that we don't really have a hold over. I was just wondering of the things that are visible and measurable which has proved emperically to carry the greatest number of people to success. From what I can see money and looks appear to be beating brains, despite how worrying that is to a Darwin imperative of progress.

Looks unfortunately

With brains you can get money.
With money you can get looks.
With money you can get education, so an upgrade to the brains.
With looks you can get money.

I think starting at brains nets the most but money is the connecting one. 😜

In THIS world, money, in eternity nothing can get you where you need to be but Jesus.

@th3r0n: circular logic 🤔

@yeronlyman: this world is damned, its god is Satan, and it worships money.

@LukeOnTheInternet: What gets a person furthest through life is self action
@MikefromEP: you mean effort, dedication and perseverance?

@LukeOnTheInternet: Brains obviously
@MrMagic: but there are brainy people who are unsuccessful (especially in love). Perhaps many of them would trade their brains for looks or money.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@LukeOnTheInternet: I think you use what God have you to the best of your ability....and if you want something...you work hard for it.... whether you have money...brains or looks....
Blahblahblahblah · 26-30, F
All three.
@VelvetGhost: yes but which one is most potent?
Blahblahblahblah · 26-30, F
@LukeOnTheInternet: Money always seems to get you further, followed by looks and then brains.
@Umile18: can you give me some examples of prominent 'heart' people?
@LukeOnTheInternet: Depends on what you mean by prominent. People have different views of happiness or success.
@Umile18: I know, that's why I want to hear YOUR view and examples. Can you name some please?
