I finally got my son calmed down

I calmed him down all by myself. I didn’t have to have my boyfriend’s help! So I’m getting better! I’m just proud of myself because normally my approach just makes the situation worse. Instead of of just doing what I normally do, I allowed him space to cry it out and then whenever he was done crying, I talked to him in a calm voice and I told him that I was sorry for yelling at him and I asked if I could give him a hug because he’s still my son even though sometimes he irritates me 🤷🏿‍♀ I think I just don’t have the patience to parents a three year-old and I’m tired of listening to him whine about the littlest things. Like if we’re playing a game and if he doesn’t win or something doesn’t go his way he just throws a big hissy fit and and then I get stressed out.

I used to nanny for a two year old. When he'd start crying over something minor , I'd say "oh that's what babies do ...cry. You're not a baby! Are you a big boy?" And he'd stop crying a little and say ya, big boy! And I'd say ya big boys aren't a baby"! And it worked each time! I'd then talk to him and say See? It was easy or nothing is wrong! And he never had a full out tantrum with me🙂

mind you if they're older and their feelings are hurt I'd of course say crying is just fine everyone does it. Only to toddlers if they're screaming or having a crying meltdown I'd say above.

That's wonderful you still offered hugs and said I'm sorry for yelling. That's a good mom🌹

Best to send him to his room to cool off. By all means give him a hug. Have patience mom.

You mention "Boyfriend" not Father.
Has your Son asked you "Where is Daddy? Or Who is Daddy?
You imply that you are a single mom.
Could this be part of your son's frustration, as well as your own?
