Being held for questioning with nothing to say...

I went grocery shopping yesterday and had to go back today because I forgot some things. Unfortunately, it was the same cashier as yesterday and she said, "weren't you just here yesterday?" I felt like I was caught doing something wrong and being held for questioning. I didn't know what to say. After an awkward silence, I suppose, the cashier smiled and terminated the transaction. I think it was unsettling for both of us.

I guess I could have used the self-serve queue but there was a line, and I wasn't in the mood for any side conversations with anyone. It would have avoided this whole messy encounter. It seems like most people should use the cashier line so that self-serve checkout is available when I need it most.

@DeWayfarer In any case, the solution is to always use the self-service queue. That's the point.
