August afternoon, in a church, about 300 guests, reception with punch and cake. I was totally awestruck when I saw her. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Neither of us cried. We had been dating almost 8 years, so it was a huge relief. Her brother chained tin cans and a cow bell to my car, but gave me a key to the lock so I could remove it when we got out of town. We drove 100 miles to a Holiday Inn for our wedding night, which was amazing! The next day we drove to Florida for our honeymoon. That was over 50 years ago, so I guess we did it right.
