Every job I go to why are white people always curious to ask me their question about Black people

like as if I’m the ambassador for all Black people?

And they will try to initiate a conversation by starting off with a story about how their high school school coach was black And then they be like I’m not racist my basketball coach in high school he was the best coach he changed my life and he was Black.

Is that supposed to prove to me that you’re not racist? I don’t get it because I can say the same thing I can say yeah my mom is white I was adopted but that doesn’t make me not racist. I mean, I’m not racist.

But it’s like you know how we don’t do that to them. We don’t be like “yeah when I was in third grade, my bus driver was white”

It’s so weird and do they do that with any other race?

Can we just do our work?

@DunningKruger this is literally Dallas Texas. The DFW area is one of the most diverse places on the planet.

@TurtlePink And yet it's still probably true.
I sort of understand this
I'm not black but I'm Jewish and those who know this at my job tend to be inquisitive about it ..
They will say things like " are you going to.Jewish church today ?" Or say things like " you don't look jewish" lol ...honestly it just makes me laugh

@cherny thanks for sharing your perspective, cause I didn’t even realize that it can happen to people of different religions too. I mean, I always give people the benefit of the doubt when they do it, but to just single somebody out it’s just so bold of them because I can’t relate to ever doing that to somebody that had a different culture than me.
@TurtlePink maybe it's just out of sheer curiosity that emboldens them ...who knows ?

They're just trying to flirt
Just my thoughts but people who are curious about people different than themselves can be really nervous about starting a conversation and alot of people say stupid shit when nervous.
