I took the bus today...
I stayed calm as everyone on the bus stared out the window to look at me with disdain for making the bus stop to pick me up.
On the bus, I nodded to the bus driver and kept walking to an open seat so he didn't have a chance to say anything to me.
I took my seat and stayed calm when at the next stop someone came up to the seat next to me and sat down.
The 2 people in front of me were talking with the 1 person directly in front of me saying he wants to try fishing, but he needs to do "research" to find out about it. The guy next to him asked, "where do you want to go?" The guy directly in front of me said, "I need to do my research." Because of my calm demeanor, they did not try to involve me in their conversation.
As my stop was coming up, I wasn't sure how to get past the woman who took the seat next to me (I was at the window side). I did start to become annoyed that she was so self-absorbed she didn't even look up to see if I needed to get off. I made a motion like I was getting up, but she didn't take the clue. Luckily, she got off at the stop after mine, completely oblivious, and I got off with her and then walked back to where I needed to get off. Still, I stayed calm.
If I ever did have social anxiety; I don't think so, but if I did, it seems I have overcome it.
