I hate when coworkers come in with their new born babies for a show-and-tell. I never know what to say.

I usually find something else to do during the "show-off" period, but then someone will always ask where I was which only introduces the awkwardness I was trying to avoid. It's like they are insinuating I am hiding or avoiding the "situation." I mean, I guess that's technically true, but I don't think it is right for people to think that way since that's not really my intention... exactly. Besides, having a baby should be a private event.

I get it. There was a time or two I just wanted to say that's the ugliest baby I ever saw.
@MoveAlong right!! Can we normalize it not all babies look cute. I’ve seen some grown looking babies.

Just be honest and say, "I don't give a sh*t about nobody's d4mn baby."

@HoeBag Well, that would be rude. I'm a gentleman and always use my manners.

@MarkPaul In that case, maybe, "I am just not interested in kids".

I mean I understand cause I would not want to go to some baby show and tell. I love my own grand kids but I have no interest in ones that are not family.

In your case, typically young men are not expected to be excited about someone else's new born. I wonder why your co-workers would even ask why you didn't attend.
