Amazing how the minds of the well-to-do work

I live in a remodeled motel built in the 50s. I like it. But sometimes I wonder.

In the last month, the owner raised the rent $25, the eighth time it has increased since I moved in. The same month, the free laundry with washers and dryers was transformed into a coin-operated laundry. It costs roughly $6 to wash and dry a load of laundry.

The folks who own this complex own two more properties in this city.

None of that is terribly surprising.

But yesterday a box of random groceries appeared on my porch. I thought it was mis-delivered. Today I asked a neighbor if they knew whose it might be.

They told me it was a gift from the owners, trying to help everybody out.

It contains 4 tortillas in a ziploc, with turkey or chicken slices cut into slivers. Two cans of Vienna sausage. Two packs of Ramen noodles. A boxed cake mix. A can of ground pepper. 3 small cans of tuna. All are generic brands.

Well, that will definitely heal the $31 monthly wound to our wallets. NOT driving their Cadillac Escalade around the complex might help even more.

That’s certainly bizarre.

Sounds like something that would happen on Schitt’s Creek. 😅

@OlderSometimesWiser Since the tortillas and chicken slivers sat on my porch for 24 hours, I can’t even eat those. Until/unless I am actually starving, in which case, who cares?
@Mamapolo2016 Weird assortment of food. Sounds like stuff left over from a food pantry.
@OlderSometimesWiser That’s exactly what I thought. Clearance sale at Dollar General.
@Mamapolo2016 Better check the expiration dates on the rest of the stuff, don’t want to end up doing extended time on the bowl. Especially if they turn it into a pay toilet.
@OlderSometimesWiser That’s gotta be next.
