I feel like I was just victimized and assaulted...

I was explaining how a spreadsheet was set up and how to input numbers and I was accused of "mansplaining." I was literally shocked and had to listen to being told how I barely have any experience, that I am just starting out, that I need to be respectful, and not to bring my sass into the office. WHAT...?

None of what she said is true, and by the way, she asked ME for help.

Your favorite protagonist I must assume! 🤣

She's doing it purposely, you know! 🤣

@DeWayfarer That flat chested girl? No. She knows how spreadsheets work. This is an older woman who is doing some kind of auditing project and had questions about a spreadsheet I created to track results.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul If that was her job, you simply didn't answer her question.

Likely her question was far more specific. And you went on like she knew nothing, about spreadsheets.

Some of my own spreadsheets where very complex and went into actual programming in Excel.

@DeWayfarer Well, I had some simple macros and automatic calculations in it, and she was like what does that cell do and what factor is populating it, and why did you do it that way, and stuff like that. So, I explained the basics to her, and she apparently took offence to me patiently taking the time to explain what was so obvious.

@MarkPaul If she asked it that way, you certainly took the wrong tactic. She wanted more an indepth explanation when you attempted to simplify it wrongly.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, she kept taking her glasses on and off which was obnoxious, and had a facial expression of doubt, I guess you could say which I didn't appreciate. But I still answered her questions, but she resented that I wasn't intimidated by her off-putting attitude.

@MarkPaul You should have explained what databases or what other spreadsheets were involved in that one spreadsheet. Those are other data sources. And if none say that it's self contained.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, yeah of course there are other data sources. That's how the spreadsheet is populated and then it produces monthly reports and charts, etc. I didn't like the way she was asking her questions and putting on and taking off her glasses and then making it seem I was the one who wasn't being clear.

@MarkPaul She's an auditor for Pete's sake! 🤣

She's the companies enemy and therefore your enemy! 😈
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer First you thought I was complaining about that flat chested girl. Now, you are taking the side of the auditor. I think your motives are clear.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul You're getting me wrong on this. I'm very familiar with auditors. They are your enemy. Always.

Even if within the same company.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, I did answer her questions. I wasn't supposed to deceive her or stonewall her. I just felt like she took advantage of my patience and professionalism and then twisted things around like I was the one who was doing something wrong. She victimized me.

[EDITED]: ... and then disrespected me.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul She definitely thought you were stonewalling her by over simplifying.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, that wasn't my intention. It just seemed like she was irreversibly confused.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul If it's any consolation, your boss will likely thank you, unknowing the circumstances. 🤣
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer What do you mean, "unknowing the circumstances?" I'm very savvy. I knew what was going on the whole time.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul Ah yet she doesn't know why the auditor didn't find anything wrong.... Yet!

That auditor will confront her. Eventually.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer My spreadsheet is flawless. There is nothing wrong... Ever!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul The auditor doesn't know that... yet.

Therefore that auditor will confront someone else. Likely your boss.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Sh*t... They are supposed to meet on Friday. I thought it was just to wrap things up.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul 🤷🏻‍♂

You should have told exactly what cell that macro was getting it's source from.

Would have been a whole lot easier.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, it wasn't my fault. She shouldn't have lectured me like that.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul Expect that type of behavior from any auditor. They are your enemy.
